Michele Gillentine, Au.D. , Founder and President of Allen Hearing Clinic, Inc.
"Filling sound voids and the prevention of hearing loss is my passion," says Michele Gillentine, Au.D. of Allen Hearing Clinic, Inc. The term "Sound Void™" was created to explain the "gaps" that some individuals experience in their day-to-day lives. Sound Voids occur in situations where an individual's hearing loss prevents them from understanding important sounds and speech cues.
Born deaf in her right ear, Dr. Gillentine felt her struggles and frustrations would be an asset in helping others overcome hearing difficulties. Therefore, she earned her Master's Degree in Audiology from the University of Oklahoma in 1993.
She moved to San Antonio, Texas, upon graduation and worked for a university hospital and an ear, nose and throat clinic. Dr. Gillentine was presented the opportunity to open her own private practice, and upon careful consideration she chose Allen. In her desire to continue providing the best possible hearing healthcare she went back to school and she earned her Doctorate of Audiology from the University of Arizona in 2004.
Allen Hearing Clinic, Inc. is proud of its caring and friendly home-like atmosphere where you can relax and have a cup of coffee while being tested with innovative state-of-the-art equipment.
Deana Gepfert, Patient Care Coordinator / Technology Consultant
Deana graduated from Midwestern State University with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. She worked as a coordinator in the training department and then worked her way into a Systems Engineer at EDS for 10 years. After that she was a stay-at-home Mom while her children attended elementary school. Deana experienced first hand what other families do when they have someone that cannot hear. Deana's daughter, Ashton, lost her hearing at the age of 2 ½ after contracting a severe case of chicken pox. Ashton became a patient of Dr. Gillentine's in 2000. Deana was involved as a homeroom Mom and with PTA while her children attended elementary school and then began substitute teaching. When her children completed middle school she decided to come to work for Dr. Gillentine as a Patient Care Coordinator. Because of her experience with a hearing impaired child and knowing the care that Dr. Gillentine puts into her patients, Deana was excited for the opportunity. She loves being with people and feeling like she is making a difference. Deana has a wonderful husband and a boy and girl set of twins. She loves spending time with her family.
